Code of Honor [Printer friendly page]
All members and applicants are asked to
know these guidelines. The majority of the following is simple common sense,
courtesy and etiquette. With the majority of the officers approval, these
guidelines are subject to change at any time. Members are simply asked to remember that this is a game and the purpose of the game is to have fun. To this, we add our guild, which is
intended to provide an online 'family' if you will, to enhance the time you
spend within Norrath. These are our guidelines, ever developing over time for
the betterment of our guild. With the majority of the officers’ approval, these guidelines are subject to change at any time.
| I. Application Process and Rules
· An applicant needs 3 initial member sponsors in order to apply. If there are not 3 initial sponsors, an application won't be presented to the members or the process begun for induction. · When an application is received, it is posted on the members’ forum for all members to comment upon. There is a weeklong period in which an application will be on the boards prior to induction. Once 8 positive posts are received, an applicant will gladly be inducted into our ranks. · If an application is denied and removed due to negative posts, it is entirely possible that they could reapply sometime in the future if they improve their standing. In no case will additional applications be accepted more frequently than once every 30 days. · An applicant must have 8 total sponsors to be inducted into our ranks. One of the sponsors must be an officer. A sponsor is an actual post voting 'Yes' on the application thread, based on that person's individual experience with the applicant. · A member sponsor cannot be currently on probation. · An
applicant must attend 2 raids/events with Sign of One prior to being inducted.
The exception is for immediate family members of current guildmembers, who will
not have to attend raids or events. All other requirements remain in effect.
"Immediate Family" is defined as: spouse, sibling, parent or child and nothing else. · We ask that all members be 18 years of age and older. (Exceptions to this are family to members in good standing and a case by case basis) A member will be expected to show their merit regardless of age. · If a member votes 'No' on an application, it must be based on their own experience with the applicant and must include an explanation. The exception is if the issue is a sensitive matter, in which case the member should contact an officer to address it. · Votes against an applicant do not automatically deny entry to the guild. If there are a few no votes but an overwhelming number of supporting votes the applicant can still be inducted, based on a decision by the officers. · Yes and No votes on
applications must be based on a member's individual experience, not on what
others have said or posted. Any comments for or against are welcome. · Any applicant may be asked to attend a meeting in a chat channel to discuss any past events, their ideals and to talk with others. Any officer and/or member may be present. The officer present will be the moderator. Probationary Time: · Once inducted, all applicants must go through a probationary period of one month. During this month, all members will report to officers if any problems arise, no matter what they may be. An officer will discuss situations with each applicant on a case-by-case basis. Removal from the guild can occur at any time during this probation, if agreed upon by the majority of the Council and High Council. · A member on probation will not request or schedule any raid, including epic fights. · Any member on probation shall not receive any loot over any member of the guild. Summary of application process: · The application must be posted for members to review and comment on for at least one week. · At least eight (8) non-probationary member sponsors must vote 'Yes'. At least one sponsor must be an officer. · The
applicant has attended at least 2 raids/events with the guild and this is verified and posted by an officer. Exceptions being immediate family of current guild members. · The applicant has registered for our forums with a valid e-mail address. · If
after one month, the above requirements have not been satisfied, the application will be removed from consideration.
| II. Member Responsibilities
· Members will know the Code of Honor.
· Suggestions of change for the betterment of the guild as a whole are strongly encouraged. Any suggestion, concerns or questions can be presented to any officer at any time. This includes email, private messages on the forum or tells in game. · Members should either play in normal mode or /role mode, simply so others may see that you are on. This is not a requirement and you may play in /anon mode at any time, just a suggestion for the morale of the guild. (And having pride in your guild) · Members are entitled to have all of their alternate
characters inducted into the guild if they so desire. We ask that you not
maintain membership in multiple guilds, and when a member leaves the guild for another, all tagged characters will be removed from guild membership in the Sign of One.
·
A member is expected to
be loyal to the guild. We ask that you not drop your guild tag to join a
separate guild for any particular raid. · Members should not compare and contrast the good and bad points of our guild to another in guild chat. (Or vice-versa) · If a member obtains an item of greater importance to them, we ask that the previously used item be donated to the guild. The giving member may hand down an item to any member or donate to the guild treasury. However, the decision is solely up to the member. · Members should not 'forget where you came from'. When dealing and speaking to lower level players, we ask that you carry yourself with the same dignity and honor that you wished at that same level. · Members on probation are not included in rolling for epic or rare drops. Forums/Email/IRC: · Members shall be registered on our forums with a valid email address. · Members are required to visit and participate on the forums to stay informed of all that is pertaining to our guild. · A member should notify an officer of any email address changes. · Members shall become familiar with and get to know how to use the Sign of One IRC channel. · A member can enter the Sign of One IRC chat channel by following the link provided on our forums. This link is found in the upper right and is labeled, “Chat”. · Members may also use mIRC, or another IRC program and connect to irc.fef.net, room name #Sign_of_One. · Meetings, discussions and officer talks will take place in IRC.
| III. Officer Rules and Responsibilites
· Officers are dedicated solely to Sign of One. This means they do not have different characters in different guilds.
· The officers have forums dedicated to their duties. Only officers have access to these forums. · The officers work together to make decisions in the best interest of the guild. Choosing Officers: · When an officer position is announced, those interested will submit their name, all characters and levels and a short letter of intent to the guild leader. · The officers will hold members who choose to submit their information in confidence. · The existing officers will choose the officer applicant that they feel will best serve the guild. · All officer applicants who are not chosen will be notified by email.
| IV. Guild Raid Guidelines
· Guild Raid Defined: Guild raids are defined, as scheduled raids with a goal for a guild member, where the majority involved are guild members.
· Any drops that occur during these raids are to go to those who are in need for the betterment of themselves and the guild as a whole. (See loot below) · All members should start moving to the designated meeting area 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to the start time, depending on where they are and how far they have to travel. All members should make every attempt to arrive early as to not hold up the guild. · All guild teleporters will cease picking up guildmates 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. After his time, all guildmates are still welcomed to join the raid, but it is their responsibility to obtain the travel needed to the meeting area. · If a member arrives late, it is the members’ responsibility to find their way the guild majority, not the guild to pull back for that one member. · Members should ideally speak to their group leader first. Group leaders should be the liaisons to the raid leader. · Advice and suggestions are always welcomed, but second guessing
raid leaders should not take place.
KGC Large Target Raids:
1. If the guild is up for one of these targets
and it is found to be spawned, members may organize and make an attempt on the
target if they have a reasonable force of guildmembers.
Reasonable force
means at least 12 guild members, average level of 58, and must include at least
one plate tank and 2 priest classes.
If possible, an officer should be
present and involved to assist with any issues that arise. However, due to the
current KGC rule set, we should attempt to engage targets whenever we are in the
"top 5" and can field a force to win.
2. The raid leader for the force must follow the most
current KGC rules and guidelines, to ensure that the guild does not violate
them.
The raid leader will coordinate with other KGC member guilds that
may also be "up" for the target and gathering to kill it, to avoid KS'ing or
leapfrogging situations.
If the raid force fails to kill the target after
3 attempts, and another guild that is also up for the target is in the zone,
ready and waiting with a reasonable force of their own, the raid leader should
pass to the waiting guild - we may do so and not take a failure. If there are no
other guilds waiting, then additional attempts may continue.
The raid
leader will also make a post on the guild forums immediately following a success
or failure, and include the kill time, loot drops, list of all members present,
and loot winners. Screenshots should also be submitted if possible, for
inclusion on the guild news page.
3. Tradeable epic drops (scales, etc.) will go to the
guild treasury. "No drop" epic pieces will be handled in accordance with the
Code of Honor regarding epic drops - if there has been no predetermined order of
who receives the item then it goes to the member present who is farthest along
(or lottoed between members present at the same point in the quest). If no
members of the class for an epic drop are present or need the item, it will be
looted for MQ (if feasible).
4. Zlandicar's Talisman will go to the guild treasury.
Other ST Key parts will be distributed according to the Sleeper's Tomb Key
policy.
5. Trakanon teeth will be assigned by the officers -
if no officer is present then the teeth will be looted for MQ later.
6. Any other loot will be distributed according to the
guild's current loot policies.
| V. Guild Loot Policies
Always, Need Before Greed. Eligibility: 1) Thosepresent that can use. (level and class) 2) For raids that are 'points' raids, the Point System rules will be used. 3) Those present at the current raid alts. 4) If no members present want or need the item, it will go to the guild treasury. In General: · All members are asked to consider their current gear before attempting to win an item. Only those that will truly wear/use and benefit from it should be in the lotto for it. · Guests are only allowed to attend guild raids if approved previously by an officer and/or the raid leader. Guild raids are generally for members and applicants. · Raid leaders have the final decision on who may be included on rolling for any loot that may drop. Raids for a specified member: · If a member schedules a raid for their sole benefit, it is that member’s responsibility to organize and arrange tactics and strategies. · If a member takes the time to camp an area or mob, the item that the member was searching for goes to them first. · All other drops go to those present at the raid. Epic Drops: · It is the responsibility of each member interested in working on their epic quests to update themselves and their progress using the class specific forums. · All potential epic drops should already be designated prior to the raid to who is obtaining the item from discussions with others of their class in the class specific forums or in tells. · If
it has not been discussed and decided previously, the officers online at the time will determine who receives the epic item, with consideration given to tenure in guild and quest completion status. · If
there is a predetermined order, and the item is droppable or MQ'able, then that
designated person will receive the item (or MQ). If the item is no drop (and not
MQ'able) - then the next person in line who is present at the raid will receive
it. · Epic pieces in the guild treasury are saved for those who are near completion of their epic and then given to the member furthest along. · If there is not a member that is of the specific class and an item will rot, only then will it be permitted to have someone log in another character for the purpose of looting. · New members on probation are not allowed to roll on epic items. Sleeper's Tomb Key Policy: The Talisman from all First Brood dragons (Zlandicar, Klandicar, Yelinak, Sontalak or Lendiniara), and the shards of Hsagra's Talisman (rarely obtained from King Tormax, Derakor the Vindicator, or the Statue of Rallos Zek) are used for the quest to obtain the key to Sleeper's Tomb (Kerafyrm's Lair), and will be subject to the following distribution policy: 1) Except for Zlandicar's Talisman, all ST key parts will be lottoed according to the guild's loot policy then in effect, with these additional eligibility criteria: a. Members must be level 60 or higher. b. Members must have been in the guild for 6 months or more. 2) If all eligible members present already have an ST Key piece, then the talisman may be distributed as the officers see fit, to a needed class or open lotto among those present that partially meet the criteria, for example. If no officer is present then the raid leader should use his/her best judgment. 3) Zlandicar's Talisman will be held by the treasury, for emergency use to key a needed class when we are about to raid ST. This is because Zlandicar's Talisman is tradeable.
| VI. Point System
Point System
This system utilizes points obtained at raids. Points are obtained like so: o Color coded raids are always for points. The color code indicates the 'importance' of the target in accordance with guild goals, and is set by the GRM. o If the raid is not previously scheduled, but is an impromptu target, the raid can be a points raid if both of the following conditions exist: a. At least 75% of the raid are SoO members b. The officers online decide and announce that it is for points. o Points begin accumulating at the scheduled start time for the raid. If unscheduled then the raid leader will start tracking at the point where there are enough members present that they can begin buffing, etc. and should announce this time. o Points are accrued at the rate of 1 per hour -- rounded to the nearest hour. o Points stop accumulating at the end of the raid, normally when the groups are told to port out of the raid zone. This time should also be announced by the raid leader. o Points follow accounts, not characters. Thus if you have alts that exist on the same account, you can play any character at any raid and have the same number of points available to use. If you own 3 accounts, you have 3 seperate point banks. o Points are tracked and maintained, along with the guild roster, on the guild management tool online. Points for a given raid will also be posted to the forums. Any member can view any other members point information at any time, provided they have the LoY expansion. It is your responsibility to ensure your point totals are accurate. If they are incorrectly adjusted, you must notify an officer who will then look into it and make adjustments as necessary. You must do this within a reasonable time of the error being posted.
Loot is then distributed as below:
1. All items have a point value decided by the officers (normally 0-25 points depending on the value of the item).
2. Lotto system using points:
You roll from 0 to (your points * 10) + 100.
You may roll however many points you have, but if you have less than the number of points for the item (based on the color code of the raid), if you win you will have a negative point balance.
Those with negative points may not roll - you must have at least 0 or greater number of points.
Once you win an item, points are deducted from your point totals immediately. If you still have points remaining you may roll on additional items on that raid - At a penalty of double item costs. You must actually have the double points to be able to roll in this scenario.
Credit for points earned at the current raid are not added until after that raid ends.
3. You may only roll on an item if it is an upgrade and you plan to use it.
Examples:
Muffy has 45 points. Skynex has 20 points. Wandidar has 5 points.
All are attending a raid scheduled by the GRM.
Item X drops. Officers discuss and decide it is worth 15 points. The loot coordinator announces, 'Please random for X using points. Item X is worth 15 points.' Muffy /randoms 0 550 -- result: 280 Skynex /randoms 0 300 -- result: 210 Wandidar /randoms 0 150 -- result: 90
Muffy wins X. Muffy now has 30 points. Skynex has 20 points. Wandidar has 5 points.
Item Y drops. Officers discuss and decide it is worth 15 points. The loot coordinator announces, 'Please random for Y using points. Item Y is worth 15 points.' Muffy /randoms 0 400 -- result: 275 Skynex /randoms 0 300 -- result: 110 Wandidar /randoms 0 150 -- result: 85
Muffy wins Y. Muffy now has 0 points (and can no longer roll). Skynex has 20 points. Wandidar has 5 points.
| VII. Disciplinary Actions
Time spent in Norrath should not only be enjoyable by yourself, but others as well. Our intention is not to hinder anyone's time, whether in our guild or others. Offensive actions are what ruin the fun for others, causing disrespect to yourself and our guild. Offensive Actions: · Disrespect to any member or player within Norrath. (Personal attacks, verbal abuse, stealing, or any other action unfit of honor) · Looting in an unjustly manner. · Intentional Kill Stealing in any form. · Continuously asking members for power leveling, buff, teleporting or twinking, (handing down of higher end items), to a degree in which it is offensive. · Repeated attempts to 'train' others for a solely offensive reason. · Direct personal attacks and/or attacks on our guild in general are deemed unacceptable and will not be tolerated. · Any other actions decided upon by the officers that are destructive and/or degrading to our guild as a whole. Continued blatant violations of the above may result in disciplinary action. Any and all accusations will be investigated by an officer. Disciplinary Actions: Warning An officer will contact the member and advise them of their warning. An explanation of their warning will be given and the consequences if it continues. Probation Probation Period 1: (between the officers and member) An officer will contact them and advise them they are being placed on Probation Period 1 and why, and what is to happen if their conduct continues. Probation Period 1 will last no longer than 1 month from the time an officer contacts them. If there is no incident during this time, then the member will be taken off probation and “upgraded” back to full membership. However, if the same conduct continues, an officer will contact the member and advise them they have reached Probation Period 2. Probation Period 2: (guild notified) An officer will contact the member and advise them they are being placed on Probation Period 2. A post will be made on the Members General forum advising the guild of the members Probation Period 2 status. After one month, if the members’ conduct improves, they will be “upgraded” from Probation Period 2 and the post to the guild removed. However, if their same conduct continues, the member will be contacted by the guild leader. Release from guild: The guild leader will contact the member and release them from the guild. Expulsion may also occur if it is deemed necessary by the High Council and Council at any time, depending upon the circumstance and situation. This is all in an attempt to keep the good reputation and quality members we have built so far.
